Hi
Hope you are having a lovely half term. I know the weather is not being very kind but we still seam to be really busy.
My lovely new scarf is now finished. I wore it to the Knit & Natter last Thursday with my new red shoes. Would you like to see it?
I particularly love the ends as they swirl round into almost a circle.
The only slight adjustment I made to the pattern was to crochet 2 extra middle motifs so I have 20 not the 18 as stipulated in the pattern. You might remember I did say I had used 4ply instead of double knitting, and as I had some left and it just didn't seam quite long enough, I popped a couple more in.
I seriously like this pattern, and once I got into the rhythm it was quite quick to work each mofit. I think some special people might be getting these as presents this year, if I can find the time!
Red is definitely my colour of the moment. I went to Sheffield this weekend and in and among other more cultural things, we popped into a few shops. Everywhere I looked red was jumping out at me, bags, gloves, jumpers, coats. I was very restrained though and only came home with a small bag and some gloves which were in a sale. Then when I got home I went searching through my wardrobe and dug out a lovely red cardigan I bought a couple of years ago and for some bizarre reason only wear in the summer. Anyway the weather is supposed to be dryer and warmer tomorrow so I am going to wear it then with all my other red things. Tomorrow I am going to Clithroe and it is going to be a colourful day, I am already smiling just thinking about it. Now I just need the kids to be in a similar mood! I may have to bribe them with food!!
Back on the subject of Sheffield, if you do find yourself in the city centre I can recommend a visit to the Winter Gardens. They are a lovely indoor space where you can just sit for free and admire the plants and water features, or buy a coffee and read a paper. There are also some interesting little gallery spaces attached, well worth a look. It was snowing, then raining, then sleeting (you get the picture) so we kept nipping in to get warm and dry in between visits to other places. We also had a meal at 'Cafe Rouge' in the city centre, ABsolutely deliciOUS and quite child friendly, although we were on a child free weekend. Did I mention that! once or sometimes twice a year my hubby and I manage a grown-ups only weekend. I would show you photos but as I left the kids with family, I also left the camera, sorry.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings.
Enjoy the rest of your half term.
Jo
