Hello
Thank you for taking the time to join me.
You know they say that things come in three's? well the third very exciting thing in my life has just landed, yes quite literally landed. As if life isn't exciting enough as the moment, my world has been totally overtaken by the shop, I have a design in a national magazine, both things I would not have believed possible just 12 months ago. Well, on Saturday night I took the most exciting delivery. Look!!!!
And close up!
At the moment many other parts of my life have had to take a back seat. But some things just won't wait.
Aren't they just amazing. I was only about 6 feet away with no protective clothing. You can take a chair and just sit and watch. I have plans for later in the summer to sit with my knitting and a 'proper' coffee late on a Saturday afternoon and just watch them.
I took this picture at about 9.30 today during a brief sunny spell. The tiny hive is just a nucleus box which you use to house a new swarm. Later in the week I will put on my suit and move them into their proper hive.
We also have an old bird box on our garden fence which we neglected to take down when when put the greenhouse up. The birds have never used it but when my husband was cleaning up in the garden during the last bit of nice weather, he had to make a hasty retreat from behind the greenhouse when he heard buzzing. Look what is now in our bird box:
A family of bumble bees have made a nest. We can now stand quite safely in the greenhouse and watch them from about 1.5 feet away.
How did they know we were bee friendly? That box has been there at least 4 years, totally unused, and this year we have bees.
Just coincidence I know, but how amazing.
Oh, and just in case you were wondering I have finished the purple socks. I will show you soon.
Bye
Jo
